Burung Biru Library (Perpustakaan Burung Biru Baca Buku, which stands for bermain, bersenandung, bicara, belajar dan bercerita dari buku, or playing, singing, speaking, learning, and storytelling with books) is a library run by Yayasan Dunia Damai. The library is available for children, especially those residing in the vicinity of the library. Burung Biru, which was opened on the 11th of March, 2008, contains numerous titles of books that children can freely access. Burung Biru Library naturally serves as a reading space and a place where children can borrow quality books. But on top of that, the library also provides a learning-and-playing space where children can make crafts, play, interact with each other, and read up on topics that they are interested in. Some of its activities include reading stories together, writing a story, storytelling, screening films on folklore, and such. Burung Biru Library also facilitates a programme called “Burung Biru Flies to” (Burung Biru (Bubi) Terbang) within Yogyakarta area. This is a programme in which museum volunteers provide free reading space, tell stories with objects, and invite participants to play with objects of play specifically curated for the occasion. For more than a decade since 2008, Burung Biru Library had relocated for as many as five times. It was originally located in Gondomanan village (2008-2009), and subsequently moved to Wirogunan (2009-2010), Bintaran (2010-2014), and Tirtodipuran (2014-2022), before finally nested in Sekarpetak, Bangunjiwo, Bantul.
